Wyse 5070 Windows 10 IoT and VMware Horizon 8 – SLL connection was shut down while reading
When user is connected to the virtual desktop via VMware Horizon client, the session is randomly disconnected with error message – SSL connection was shutdown while reading
The infrastructure of VDI
- WYSE 5070 with Win 10 Enterprise LTSC 10.04.06.05.22.00
- 44 thin clients
- latest WDA – 14.6.9.21
- VMware Horizon Client – 8.5.0.26981 (delivered with Windows IMAGE)
- Wyse Management Suite 3.9 latest hotfix
- VMware Horizon Connection server – 8.10.0 build – 21972440
- VMware vSphere on the latest 8.0.1
- Windows 10 22H2 with latest VMtools and Horizon Agent same version like connection server.
- Horizon connection certificate and domain CA deployed via WMS console to all 44 wyse clients.
- Im using VMware KIOS mode
The VMware Horizon Client log:
CdkTunnelClient_DisconnectCb: TUNNEL INTERRUPTED: SSL connection was shut down while reading
Tunnel disconnected with reason: SSL connection was shut down while reading
Cdk::ErrorCallback:869: The task 'CdkTunnelTask' failed with error: SSL connection was shut down while reading (domain=54, code=6).
TunnelNetwworkInterrupted:948 Encountered tunnel error: SSL connection was shut down while reading
My working solution:
- Download latest VMware Horizon Client to fileshare, which is accessible from WYSE
- login as administrator to Windows on WYSE
- disable Unified Write Filter and reboot WYSE
- login as administrator to Windows on WYSE
- copy latest Horizon Client from fileshare to some folder – for example Downloads
- run Horizon Client upgrade from 8.5.0 > 8.10 > restart later
- enable Unified Write Filter and reboot WYSE
- in the WMS go to the Groups and Config > select the policy, where is your WYSE
- in wyse easy setup > Applications (because we upgraded the client, the KIOS is blank, we have to specify the application manually.
- Application Name – VMware Horizon
- Application Location – „C:\Program Files\VMware\VMware Horizon View Client\vmware-view.exe“
- Application Arguments – „-file C:\Users\User\Documents\VMware\Config.txt„
- Save and Publish policy
After this steps, the connection to VDI is stable and working more than 24h
