Veeam 11 – Error: Unable to perform installation Unable to register and start service
Failed to prepare guest for hot backup. Error: Unable to perform installation Unable to register and start service. Attempt 10 of 10 Cannot register management service. Service name: [VeeamVssSupport]. Cannot create service – this error message i saw few days ago in my customer infrastructure, the backup and replica not working with same error message. I think that is something in common with Microsoft: June Windows Server updates may cause backup issues – „Microsoft says that some applications might fail to backup data using Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS) after applying the June 2022 Patch Tuesday Windows updates.“
The solution is very simple, just reboot the VM guest OS to allow Windows to remove the Veeam VeeamVSSSupport service that is marked for deletion.
